We stayed at the Elks Head for a long weekend in order to discover Northumberland, Approximately 8 miles from Hadrian’s wall and numerous roman forts this was an ideal location well off the beaten track. The Pub had a fantastic restaurant and the full English breakfast was excellent. The room was clean tidy and airy with views over the river will be back.

The new owners have transformed the menu at the Elks head, offering sensational seasonal dishes cooked to the highest standards. Having only been in for a few weeks we get a glimpse of what this pub is to become – a proper destination for foodies. Do not miss!

Highly recommend. We had the most amazing meal, all home cooked fresh food. Cooked by Rob the new owner. Excellent staff who are friendly and very helpful. Amazing location in a beautiful country setting. Javier is an excellent bar person and waiter. So very friendly and hard working. We stayed over in a spotless clean room and had a great night. We will definitely be back to see Rob and Jen who are doing great things since taking over.
